REREMAI GETS IT HARD

OF the candidates which recently qualified for a higher circle, three that appear to be on an equal footing are Great Peter, Reremai, and Logan’s Pride. At the Auckland Christmas fixture Great Peter proved himself a good one by winning three on end, finishing up with 4.28 3-5 off 4.35. At the Otahuhu summer carnival, Reremai won over two miles in 4.26 2-5, o*f 4.33. Recently Logan’s Pride, a good stake-winner, won at Addington off 4.34 in 4.26 1-5. While these performances are on a par, generally speaking, Mr. Simkins’s mare is asked next week to concede Great Peter and Logan’s Pride 12 yards. She has two chances—Buckley’s and her own.
