WORLD CONFERENCE DISCUSSED MRS. R. G. COATS PRESIDES • n the absence of the president, Mrs. A. W. AveriM. who is in England, Mrs. R. G. Coats, vicepresident, took the chair at the quarterly meeting of the Council of the Auckland Mothers* Union held at Bishopscourt library yesterday afternoon. The world conference of the Alothers* Union is to be held shortly in London, and during the three weeks of this conference services of prayer for a blessing on its work will be held throughout New Zealand, speciaJ days being assigned in various towns in the Dominion. July 11 is the day appointed for Auckland, where arrangements for the services will be left to the vicars of the various parishes. It was announced that a donation of £ 2 2s had been sent as a thankoffering to the conference from Auckland. A letter from Airs. Averill was read by the secretary cordially thanking the members of the council for the travelling clock presented to her before she- left for England. A reply to a letter sent to her by the union was received from her Excellency Lady* Bledisloe, who expressed her interest in the work of the union. The annual meeting was fixed for the end of July. The resignation as vice-president on account of ill-health was received from Mrs. Haselden with regret. It was unanimously resolved that she should be requested to continue as vice-pre-sident for life. Letters of thanks were received from London for the contribution of £6 10s sent to the Sumner House organ fund by the Auckland AI others’. Union. It was stated that lantern slides on the world work of the Alotliers* Union were now in New Zealand, and it was hoped to obtain the loan of them to show at meetings in Auckland. The links secretary announced the formation of 3 2 fresh links with branches in Britain. Home branches were keenly interested in linking up with those overseas, especially where there might be mutual relations or friends. Jt was announced that the week of the Wave of Prayer, from August 25 to 31, would be held throughout the Dominion as in former years.
