STRAND
“THE NIGHT PARADE” Those wlio like fast-moving drama, intrigue and . modern night life, will find moro than enough to please in Radio Pictures’ “Night Parade,” which is at the Strand Theatre. Mat St. Ciair in his direction, has dipped his camera lens and his microphone into Broadway after dark, and lias given tile eye and ear intimate contact with the romance, intrigue, sorrows and joys of the tinselled throngs. Hugh Trevor gives the best performance of his career as the young middleweight. champion, who- almost sells his birthright for a chick and a cheque. In doing so he topples from the pedestal on which his doting father has placed him, but the love of a girl and tho fight of his dad regain for him the place he held as the idol of millions. Dorothy Gulliver carries the romantic interest and proves her mettle in this, her first picture since she graduated from the “Collegians” series in which the screen world knows her best. Hitherto unsuspected ability on her part shines through “Night Parade” with a brilliance that promises to carry her far up the cinema ladder. One of the screen’s favourites in amorous roles —a standing she obtained as a brunette—has turned blonde. Ailecn Pringle makes her debut as a member of the clan gentlemen are supposed to prefer in “Night Parade, and sho lias assured her fans that she will stav blonde for keeps, too. As the “tool” of tho .’crooked gambler, plaved with finesse by Robert Ellis, Mis’s Pringle sets out to carry Trevor along a primrose path, and nearly succeeds in getting him to agree to throw away his crown. A splendidly entertaining supporting programme is also being presented.
