While the German Ambassador to Portugal, Dr. Albert von Baligond, was aboard the cruiser Koenigsberg, shown above, a man who is believed to be insane, shot him dead. The assassin said later he sought revenge on Germany, America or Britain, all of which countries had made him suffer.
