Stolen Car Recovered
A motor-car parked in Broadway, Newmarket, on Saturday evening and removed by some unknown person was afterward discovered lying upside down in a ditch in Robertson Road, Mangere. The owner of the car, Mr. J. Brown, of Newmarket, reported his loss to the police at about 11 p.m., the Onehunga force was able to record its recovery. The car is extensively damaged, but so far the thief has not been caught. Crash Into Pole A motor-lorry crashed into a telegraph pole near Manaia and was almost totally wrecked yesterday afternoon. The telegraph pole split from top to bottom. It is believed that a mishap to the rear of the undercarriage resulted in the machine becoming unmanageable. The rear axle and a wheel were separated from the body of the lorry as it struck the telegraph pole. The driver, N. Murray, escaped serious injurey. — r.A.
