TE AWAMUTU AERO CLUB

LANDING GROUND PROPOSAL From Our Own Correspondent TE AWAMUTU, Friday. The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Aero Club was held on Thursday. Reference was made to the Waipa Racing Club's fear of accidents to racehorses using their course, through airplanes landing on the course. The club has received permission from Taylor Bros, for airplanes to land on the old polo grounds, adjacent to the course. This is considered a better site for machines to land than the racecourse. and it was suggested that other area clubs be advised of this fact. The ground is level, except for a couple of holes and away from electric lines. A sub-committee was formed to make arrangements to have the ground put in good order. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £7 9s 9d. It was decided to hold the club's dance at an early date. Votes of sympathy were recorded in connection with the death of Mr. A. Minchin, an intending member of the club, and Captain Saunders, who both were killed as the result of injuries received, when their airplane crashed at Te Awamutu racecourse.
