Hughes, medical officer of health, today stated there had been no new eases since May 22, and he therefore had no reason to recommend the school should remain closed. During the past fortnight Health Department officers took between 250 and 300 thrpat swabs among families where illness was suspected from all parts of the district. Since May 22. a “carrier,” who did not belong to the district, had been detected, and another child showing symptons of the disease had been sent to hospital.
