TROTTING MERGER

AUCKLAND AND OTAHUHU REMITS TO CONFERENCE Important remits concerning the proposed amalgamation of the Auckland and Otahuhu Trotting Cinbs will be submitted to the New Zealand Trotting Association at its meeting in Wellington next month. The Auckland Club will submit the remits. Negotiations have been proceeding between the two clubs for some months, and it is now stated that some definite arrangement has been reached. If the amalgamation takes place there will be 11 days’ trotting each year. At present the Auckland Club has seven days and the Otahuhu Club four.

The remits to be submitted to the inference ask that the merger be ap'oved and that the totalisator permits id all other rights and privileges of

the Otahuhu Club be vested in the Auckland Club. In the preamble to the draft agreement it is stated that the committees of the two clubs have agreed to the proposed amalgamation. RETIRING ALLOWANCE It is proposed that Mr. John Rowe shall continue to be president of the Auckland Club until the next annual meeting and that Mr. G. E. Tansley, vice-president of the Auckland Club, and Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, president of the Otahuhu Club, shall be the vicepresident. Mr. R. L. Absolum, secretary of the Otahuhu Club, is to receive £ 5 a w r eek for life as a retiring allowance. A remit safeguards the representation of the club on the Trotting Conference. All life members of the Otahuhu Club are to continue as life members of the Auckland Club and all financial members are to become automatically members of the Auckland Club without election. The entrance fee is to be £ 3 3s and the annual subscription £4 4s. The merger is to be submitted for approval at the general meeting of members of each club. The Crown Law Office is at present attending to the validating legislation which will be necessary for the merger.
