HOMAGE TO KING
LOYAL SAMOANS MEET ON ROYAL CELEBRATION CHIEFS MEET ADMINISTRATOR APIA, Tuesday. The King’s Birthday was celebrated at Apia at an official 6erem6ny this morning. The Administrator, Mr. S. S. Allen, met 40 chiefs in the Council Chamber and made some appropriate remarks. In reply, Chief Tutagaloa expressed pleasure at the recovery of the King. He said they all appreciated what Britain had done for this country and hoped British rule and New Zealand control would continue for all time. MEDALS FOR BRAVERY The Administrator presented medals of the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand to three Niueans, Lenipoe, Lanifole Faletule, and Tokelauan Paeata. They were awarded for bravery in saving life at the wreck of the Norwich City at Gardner Island on December 3 and 4, 1929. Mr. Allen congratulated the men and pinned the medals to their coats. He said they were the first recipients of these medals in Samoa.
The Administrator also presented each man with a bank book showing a credit at the Post Office Bank of £33 each. At the same time a member of the crew, an Ellis Islander, named Misinara, received £45 and a medal, and another member of the crew, Miuean Haletama, £35 and a medal.
