WORKINGMEN’S CLUB The official opening of the soman and tn« initiation of many of the bers of the Workingmen's Club into thZ game of indoor Lewis took pia.ee o' Monday evening last in the club s social hail. The executive of the Friendly Societies’ Indoor Bowling .Association assisted in the ceremi ay by loaning the necessary equipment to enable theta to play five rinks, the capacity of the hall, and by taking charge of the arrangement of the games, etc. Mr. George Katterns, chairman of the social committee, who had worked so hard to make the evening a success proved himself a great organiser. He had the hall packed with interested members. They were initiated batches of forties, but after welcoming the members of the Indoor Bowling Association, Mr. Katterns asked Bro. Frank Harris to say a few to members, and to take charge cf proceedings. Bro. Harris, on btiialf of the indoor bowlers of Auckland, welcomed the youngest recruit to their ranks. If at any time the members of his association could help in any way, it wood be a pleasure to do so. In August fke association’s open tourney would It held, and he looked forward to seeing teams from the Auckland Workingmen's Glub competing on that occasion. The ru es of play were then explained, and while teams were being selected, an exhibition game of four heads was played. It resulted as fo:lows:—G. Jarrett, G. McDowell, C. Huddleston. A. Lucas, L. Douglas, H. Bolton, 2. Before announcing the draw for the first round, Bro. Harris then called upon Bro. William Wright, tae senior member of the Workingmen’s Club, to throw the first jack, and then declared the season open for 1930. Results were as follow:

Hunt, 1. OTAHUHU CLUB A very successful full-rink tournament was held by the Otahuhu Bowling Club on the new winter green which was recently opened. The successful rink was W. Moss. R. B. Todd G.
