Wedding at St. Mark's
Miss Daphne Rainger Married MASSES of lovely pink flowers decorated St. Mark's Church, Remuera, last evening for the wedding of Miss Daphne Rainger, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. (?. Rainger, of Arney Road, Remuera, to Mr. Douglas Erie Rathhone, of Wellington, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Rathbone, of Otanga, Victoria Avenue, Remuera. The ceremony, which was of interest to a wide circle of friends in the North Island, was performed by the Rev. G. C. Cruickshank and Mr. Rainger gave his daughter away. Posies of pink flowers were tied at the ends of the pews with silver ribbons and the bridal pair stood under a bell of pink camellias and lobelia.
The bride’s exquisite gown was of finest ivory lace with a delicate tracery of grape pattern in silver. The whole frock was mounted on palest pink chiffon, and the slimfitting corsage had a yoke of tulle defined with tiny pink roses. Bouffant flounces of tulle gave added fullness to the graceful skirt. The veil of honiton lace was worn well back from the forehead, with narrow filet of orange blossom, and clusters at each aide. The lovely sheaf was of pink and white roses and carnations mingled with maiden-hair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Cushla Rainger, and Miss Nancy Noakes, who wore dainty frocks of camellia-pink moire faille, made alike on long princess lines, the narrow waistline belt being caught with a diamente buckle. The corsage was sleeveless and the pointed fish-net yoke, in the same shade, was finished at the back with a tiny bow of the material lined with silver lame. The small tulle hats which framed their faces were bound with moire ribbon and caught in the front with a diamente buckle. They carried sheaves of flowers in the same tones as their frocks. The flowergirl was little Ailsa Rathbone, wearing a pretty frock of pink satin, with a flared skirt trimmed with rows of ruching at the hem. She wore a quaint dutch bonnet in felt to tone, and carried a posy of daphne.
Mr. Hector Fisher carried out the duties of best man and Mr. Willi # a Rathbone was groomsman. Messrs Robert Barr, Craig, Partridge, Ralph Wylde-Brown, Wield Paterson and Richard Rainger acted as ushers. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where a large marquee was erected on the lawn The decoratiops were carried out in tones of pink, with touches of silver. Mrs. Rainger received her guests wearing an ensemble of deep red and gold brocaded lame, with a red-stitched velour hat and Russian furs. Her posy was of roses. Mrs. Rathbone was gowned in a frock of metal lace and georgette in shades of blue and green, over which she wore a blue.velvet coat trimmed with grey fox "fur. She wore a blue hat and carried a bouquet to tone. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Lady Sinclair-Lockhart, Mrs. J. Rainger, Mrs. Matthews, Mr. and Mrs. C. Rainger, Mr. and Mrs. O. Rainger. Mrs. H.
