CAR FOUND IN TIDE
DISCOVERY AT OREWA BEACH DISAPPEARANCES IN CITY Inquiries were made by the police following the discovery of a motor-car lying on its side in the tide at Orewa Beach, near Silverdale. The finding of the car was reported from Silverdale this morning to the Central Police Station. Apart from the particulars that the vehicle was a new Dodge sedan, numbered 33-512. no further details were reported. This afternoon, it was stated that the car, driven by Mr. Thomas Sheen, of Whitirangi Road, Auckland, was caught in quicksand last evening and had to be abandoned. Since yesterday afternoon, two cases of missing cars have been reported to the police. A light five-seater touring car which disappeared from Browa Street, Avondale, yesterday afternoon, was later recovered and a man was arrested. The car had been left for a short period by the owner. Mr. William Lauder, of 54 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn. Mr. F. C. Knott, of 20 Mount Pleasant Road, Mount Eden, left a five-seatsr touring car outside the T. and G. Building, Wellesley Street West, last evening. When he returned at 9.50 p.m., the vehicle had disappeared. It had not been recovered this morning.
