SAPLING HEAT Prospects of Fine Race LIKELY YOUNGSTERS With the approach of the A*hburton fixture on June 14, interest in the two-year-old classic contest is being aroused and everything now points to an interesting race being witnessed. In addition to the tried contingent, which comprises Checkers, Flying Cloud, Arethusa, Wheat Kin?, Crimson Rey, Royal Chenault. Oros Pride, Rc*d Shadow and Gcldworthy, there are a number of others who may prove dark horses on the day. One o i these is Travis Maxwell, a good stamp of gelding by Travis Axworthy—Nano Maxwell, bred and ow ned by Mr. Peter Watson. He will certainly lack racing experience but he Is credited with being a level-headed youngster, with a useful burst of speed.
