CHEERFUL STEWARDS
DRINKING AND SINGING IN QUEEN STREET SURROUNDED BY CROWD Drinking, singing, and creating a general disturbance in Queen Street last evening, two stewards from the Tainui drew an interested crowd. They were told to abandon the performance, but were impertinent to the constable, and had to be arrested. Fines of £1 each were imposed this morning at the Police, Court. John Henri Masson, aged 22, and Patrick Scannill, aged 26, both stewards, pleaded guilty to being disorderly while drunk in Queen Street. According to Sub-Inspector Shanahan, the men had given trouble when they were arrested, and the constable had received a cut over the eye. Accused were stewards from the Tainui. Mr. F. K.
