"HIGH TREASON” AT LONDON
The them© of “High Treason,” Maurice Elvey’s big spectacular all“talkie” production, which is now in Its last days at the London Theatre, is the averting of war, and the action takes place 10 years hence. The film assumes the political reconstruction of the world, the three great Powers being the United States of the Atlantic, a federation of all the States of North and South America—the United States of Europe, a similar federation of the European States, and the United States of Asia, the federation of the Eastern races—each federation being governed by a president and council. An “incident” is fanned into a “casus belli,” the United States of the Atlantic delivers an ultimatum and the whole world waits for the President of the United States of Europe to broadcast his decision for peace or war. All single men and women axe conscripted into the national services. Every home gets its news of these momentous happenings via wireless and television.
