A SPEEDY PAIR
COUNTRY KING, for which the Dunedin sportsman, Mr. Geo. Barton, paid a good figure, has besn a disappointment so far this sea* son, but yesterday at Addington he showed up in a brighter vein. He chased a hot one home in Harold Logan and tramped round about 3.22 for the 12 furlongs. Tomorrow at Dunedin the John Dillon pacer is on 3.16 for 11 furlongs, equal approximately to 3.34 for a mile and a-half, which gives Tomkinson’s charge a royal chance of success if he reproduces his Christchurch run. Another speedy customer on the same mark is LADY ZEPHYR, who chased the flying Belinda home each day at Dunedin last month. Lady Zephyr may tackFe an earlier heat, but if the pair meet in the Woodside Handicap, the dirt should be fly* ing on the track.
