ENDORSING LICENCES
PENALTY FOR NEGLECT OF RIGHT-HAND RULE MAGISTRATE’S THREAT The threat that he intended endorsing licences in the future for neglect of the right-hand rule was made at the Police Court this morning by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. It was essential that motorists obey the rule, the magistrate said. Fred Taylor, of Henderson, was charged with failing to give way to a vehicle approaching on his right at an intersection. Defendant was also charged with dangerous driving. It wtis stated by the police that the charges resulted from a collision between defendant’s car and another vehicle on the corner of Onslow Road and The Drive, Epsom. The car struck by Taylor had twice turned over, coming to rest against the footpath. It had been stated that defendant was driving at a dangerous speed, but that the other car was approaching the corner at about IS miles an hour. The magistrate convicted defendant on both charges. A fine of £2 was imposed on the charge of failing to give way.
