VAST FOREST FIRES
TRAIL OF DEATH AND RUIN IN CANADA SIX DEAD—FIVE MISSING Reed. 9.30 a.m. VANCOUVER, Tues. Paul Garton, a forestry protection aviator, and five farmers, perished as the result of the worst forest fires in Ontario in many years. Five others are missing on a 150mile front. Enormous property damage was done and hundreds of farmers’ homes were burned. Women and children fled from the villages of Dyment and Robinson, both of which are reported to be ablaze. Over many country roads women and children are trudging like war refugees.
