TWO PEOPLE INJURED
MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE AT HERNE BAY BOTH VEHICLES DAMAGED As a result of a violent collision between two motor-cars at the corner of Jervois and Hamilton Road, Herne Bay, at 6.30 last evening, Mr. Roland George Thomson and . Miss Irene Jones were taken to the Auckland Hospital. Their condition was reported this morning to be not serious. Mr. Thomson, who lives at 17 Hamilton Rdad, was driving a sedan car and was coming out of Islington Street to turn into Hamilton Road when h© was struck broadside on by a roadster driven, by Mr. Andrew Neal Comptoil of 21 Ardmore Road, who was coming toward th© city. Mr. Compton had with him as passenger Miss Jones of 192 Jervois Road. Both cars were turned almost completely round by the force of the impact, the sedan covering a . half-circle from the entrance of Hamilton Road to the eastern pavement, coming to rest between the fence and an electric power standard. The left side’was stove in and mudguards and running hoard damaged, but th© glass was only cracked, being shatterproof, The , radiator, headlamps and mudguards of the roadster were crumpled, and glass from the shattered windscreen hurled 20ft. Miss Jones was cut about the face by splinters. After th© crash Mr. Thomson wa? found lying on the road, where he had been thrown from his car in the collision. Th© injured were attended to by Dr. Victor F. Usher in Dr. 11. F. Holmden’s surgery and were later taken to hospital by ambulance. Road traffic was delayed for several minutes. ✓
