Rotorua Club's Annual Function | PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES The annual dance held by the j Rotorua Tennis Club took place in the Majestic Ballroom. Rotorua, on Friday evening. when trophies were presented to the successful competitors. i Music by Air. E. Shalfoon’s famous Melody Boys was full of pep, and kept the dancers moving. Arrangements had been most successfully carried out by an energetic committee. Especially in evidence when refreshments were partaken of. The hall had been decorated with yellow and blue streamers, the club colours. and tennis rackets composed of the same shades. On the supper tables were crossed streamers of yellow and blue, and bowls and vases of iceland poppies, chrysanthemums and autumn foliage, and the walls had been completely decorated with native ferns. The committee which was responsible for the success of the evening was composed of Mesdames R. G. Bennett, \V. A. McLean, C. Hitchcock, P. ‘ Sherriff, P. A. Kusabs, D. George, j Misses O. Dawson, K. Hall, M. Cooney and C. Moore. The M.C.’s were Messrs. IG. McDowell (secretary) and TV. j Sumner. There were many novelty dances in which coloured spot-lights gave won- ; derful tones to the pretty frocks. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss i R. Manson and Mr. N. Banks. Those who received trophies were: Women's championship singles. Miss M. Dayton; women’s handicap singles. Miss L. Dannefaerd: men’s championship singles. Mr. N. Smith; men’s handicap singles, All*. A. Dannefaird: mixed handicap doubles. Miss B Dannefaird and Air. A. Dannefaird; men’s handicap doubles. Alessrs. •AY. Foggin and G. McDowell; most improved woman player, Aliss I. SURPRISE PARTY JOLLY EVENING AT EPSOM On the occasion of her birthday, Aliss Aloya Keenan was given a. surprise party at “Fencourt," the residence of Airs. J. Keenan. Onslow Road, Epsom. Airs. Keenan was assisted by Aliss Evelyn Soakes and Aliss Kath Keenan. The drawing room and reception hall were thrown open, and dancing was indulged in with games and competitions at intervals. Air. Herbert Woodley delighted the guests with some vocal items. To receive the guests, Airs. J. Keenan wore a frock of floral georgette. Aliss Aloya Keenan, the guest of honour, wore a frock of ivory georgette and silver. Aliss Evelyn Soares was in blue taffeta and rosebud trimming. Aliss Kath. Revnolds, cherry georgette. GOLF TOURNAMENT WOMEN V. MEN Tho nftitch. women v. men. on Saturday afternoon, aroused much interest among the members of the Hamilton Golf Club. Alany keen games were played that resulted in_a win for the men. The men won 17, the women 12. and three were all square. All present had a most enjoyable afternoon. Among those present were; Airs.
