UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF
DANCE AT BIRKENHEAD SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION To raise funds for the distressed unemployed of the district, a very successful old-time dance was held in the Victoria Hall, Birkenhead, j on Saturday evening. Mr. S. Dean carried out the duties .of master of ceremonies, and Miss j Stayte’s orchestra supplied the daifco i music, which was greatly appreciated } The liall was gaily decorated with coloured streamers. Miss Berry and Mr. Davis were ths> | winners of the Monte Carlo dance, and I Miss L. Kelly and Mr. D. ZSTcrten won the spot waltz. Among those present were: Mrs. Marten, who wore powder blue satin, with ankle-length skirt; Mrs. .1. Warrington, pink georgette embroidered in gold secjuins and shawl to match; Mrs P. May, pink georgette; Airs. F. Dees, white satin beaute and georgette, with shoulder posy; Mrs. A. Norton, navy blue crepe de chine: Mrs. D. H. Norton, flame georgette; Mrs. L. J. Kelly, lupin blue eelanese; Mrs. A. Thorburn, black crepe de chine and silver posy; Mrs. A. Clow, black lace over satin; Mrs. Osborne,, blue floral taffeta and silver lace; Mrs. i. Barnett, apricot georgette relieved with silver; Miss B. Stayte, blue lace relieved with silver-; Miss B. Hewitt, olrl rose georgette; Miss N. Stacey, shell pink crepe de chine, relieved with lace. Miss Mavis Hutchinson, in pale lemon georgette; Miss B. Bythgo, pink crepe de chine; Miss V. Nicholls. eau de nil green lace; Miss Zoe Menzer, ivory taffeta and silver lace; Miss Nora Roberts, green beaded georgette; Miss M. Ross, Chinese red satin, with diamente girdle; Miss M. Sutcliffe, powder blue ring velvet; Miss I. Lorenza, white embroidered net; Miss Vi. Watkinson, champagne lace over dat- j i'odil satin; Miss T. Stinear, blue rinu velvet; Miss H.
