“THE GREAT GA3BO” The unusually interesting’ picture, “The Great Gabbo,” continues its successful season at the Majestic Theatre. The Star of “The Great Gabbo’' is , Otto, the doll used by the ventriloquist. Betty Compson, the undoubted possessor of personality, and a talented dancer, shares with Ericli von Stroheim the honour of making the picture live And Otto is uncannily good. Tie is the only human thing about the “Great Gabbo,” and so clever is the illusion, that the audience thoroughly appreciates the emotional effect which he nas on the girl. Von Stroheim’s acting is a pleasure to watch, and his voice suits the part of the ventriloquist. The whole performance is out of the ordinary, and the dancing in the gorgeous colour scenes of the revue is delightful. Particularly noteworthy Is the vast spider’s web, on which the grace of the girls is fascinating. An exceptionally enjoyable supporting programme is also being presented at the Majestic Theatre. “Hit the Heck,” Radio’s flashing pageant of song and dance, is to be presented next Friday at the Majestic The'atre. ' Adapted from the stage hit, it boasts a cast of 14 well-known players, with hundreds in support. Polly Walker and Jack Oalcie enact the leading roles. Miss Walker, known as the Cinderella of Broadway, is a former Follies star, and Oakie is Hollywood’s newest comedian. His part in “Hit the Deck” seems to have been written especially for him. More than 200 negro and white singers and dancers contribute to th* success of the picture.
