FORBURY PARK TROTS

RELIEF MEETING COMMENCES THURSDAY LIST OF ACCEPTORS The special trotting fixture promoted by the Forbury Park Club for relief purposes will be staged at l>unedin on Thursday and Saturday. Acceptances for the opening day are as follow:

NOTES AND COMMENTS CANDIDATES FOR FORBURY PARK Light harness supporters in the other island are just now having a real feast of their favourite pastime. Quite recently Forbury Park and Oamaru held fixtures, the Canterbury Park winter function is now in progress, and on Thursday and Saturday a special carnival is being staged at Dunedin. Form displayed at the meetings just concluded should assist backers at the relief fixture. Hydro is an improving type of j square-gaited performer which should soon be saluting the man in the box. The mile and a-half at Dunedin will give him a golden opportunity. The grey gelding All Thorpe won at Oamaru in easy fashion, to give his

backers a royal win at a big price. The trotter will not be at such long odds on Thursday. Great Abdallah, when trained in Reefton a couple of seasons back, had a- good turn of speed, but was rattleheaded. He seems to have mended his wilful ways now, and may soon be a winner. Matchmaker is a Bryce production, and when paraded at Hawera carried a big swag of Investments. The Waverley pacer was in the picture each day, but was no match for the four-year-olds Lee kelson and Capilano. * * * Ambleside, when trained last season by “Skipper” Price at Palmerston, shaped promisingly, but a slight injury kept the pacer from doing much racing. The Author Dillon representative has now struck form and is worth keeping an eye on. * * * The Drusus three-year-old Pro Rata, • although winning a saddle heat at j Oamaru. has been costly to his admir- ; ers of late. The juvenile has a i wonderful turn of speed, but is ricketty j at the barrier. When he gets over ; this affliction Pro Rata will do well, j Lady Zephyr’s recent form has been of such an attractive nature that her turn to receive a winning certificate is not far off. It may be Thursday or Saturday. Midland is a useful trotter that has ■ a habit of paying a hefty dividend ’ whenever he gets into the money. He is a rare stayer, and should be In his element over two miles at Forbury j Park. Ambition has put up some solid performances this season in mile and ahalf heats from well back. Off the front of a two-mile trot at Dunedin he should make it awkward for the opposition. * * * White Satin is bred on staying lines and with her fine turn of speed, the daughter of Wrack should have a royal chance of adding a two-mile success to her season’s record. ■a * * Belinda will only require to be a startex* in the Renown Handicap at Dunedin for a big rush to set in for the “tote.” After her success at i Forbury last month, it looks good busi- ! ness to be with her, and any price ! would be a good one. * » 3 | Regal Voyage is a real speed raer- | chant, and her connections should not i have to wait very long for a cheque to come their way. There is a twoday meeting at Dunedin. * * * Imperial Bingen did not show his true form early in the season. but latterly the Southern uacer came to light in good style to win a double. The handicappers have not stopped him yet either. * « » The three-year-old Wrack filly, Lydia, has not raced with the bec-t of luck this season, but she has. nevertheless, put up some fine efforts. It will be surprising if . she fails to catch a prize before * the season finishes.
