Oxford University gained its longoveidue success over Cambridge University in the 47th inter-university contest on the Royal Liverpool links in April and thus broke the sequence of Cambridge victories which began in 1926. Oxford won by 12 games to three on the two days’ play. It started the singles with the valuable lead of three noints gained in the foursomes, and rh® end was so tame that the large number of spectators had no interest when part of the afternoon had gone except in watching some of the Cambridge men fighting for nothing beyond personal success.
