LAW NOW PLANNED TO STOP SMITHY MARRIAGES CHURCHES COMPLAIN LONDON, Saturday. The romance of Gretna Green may soon come under the Government’s axe. as the Ministry contemplates bringing down legislation against marriages there. Scottish law officers are framing a Bill to meet the complaints of the Church of Scotland and others about the ceremonies at the famous smithy.
