DAIRYING PROBLEMS

ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE 500 DELEGATES EXPECTED Approximately 500 delegates from all parts of the North Island are expected to attend the annual meeting of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand, Ltd., which opens in Hamilton on June 24. During that week the Dominion Group Herd-Test-ing Federation, the New Zealand Cooperative Rennet Coy., Ltd., and the New Zealand Producers’ Co-operative Marketing Association, Ltd., will also hold annual meetings at Hamilton. The membership of all these farmers’ organisations is drawn largely from dairy factories of the North Island. Remits to be considered by the National Dairy Association conference include one from the Raetihi Co-op-erative Dairy Company asking for the abolition of the Dairy Control Board and suggesting that the work could be more economically carried on by the National Dairy Association. The Cheltenham Dairy Company urges, in a remit to the conference, that, as a result of recent tariff barriers raised in Canada, Australia and U.S.A. against New 2’.ealand primary produce, every effort should be made to give preference to British goods. The South Auckland Dairy Association and the East Coast Dairy Association ask that the conference support the block system of dairy farm instruction.

One Auckland director retires according to the articles of association, and there are two nominations for the vacancy, Messrs. E. S. Tremaine (present member) and J. H. Stubbs.
