CRYSTAL PALACE, MOUNT EDEN

“Navy Blues,” a humorous tale of sailor boys, continues to delight audiences at the Crystal Palace Theatre. “Navy -Blues” was made with the full co-operation of the American Navy, and there are numerous views on board the fleet. The cast is a particularly fine one, and is headed by William Haines and the well-known comedian, Karl Dane, as two sailor boys, rivals in love, and Anita Page, star of “Broadway Melody,” as the object of their adoration. The story moves with a fast pace from beginning to end, and the dialogue is exceptionally clever and amusing.

William Austin’s parents expected him to be a merchant and he was in the exporting business for a time before becoming a stage and screen comedian. Engineering almost claimed Skeets Gallagher. He had completed part of an engineering course at college before deciding he didn’t want to build bridges.
