ROTORUA NEWS

The annual meeting of the Rotorua Municipal Band was held on Friday evening at the borough depot, Mr. F. C. Davidson presiding. The annual report showed the band had made good progress in the first year’s activities. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Bandmaster, Mr. J. Goodchild; bandsergeant, Mr. A. E. Ferri; band-corporal, Mr. Allan Aubertin; librarian, Mr. C. Day; treasurer. Mr. W. Goddard; secretary, Mr. J. Lacey; assistant-secretary, Mr. R. Butler; drum-major, Mr. H. Aubertin (reelected) ; committeemen, Messrs. F. C. Uavidson, C. Bowden; representatives to the Council Band Committee, Messrs. Davidson. Goodchild and Lacey: conductor, Mr. H. J. F. Helly.

Mr.. Harold Hardcastle has procured a pen of English blackneck pheasants, which he intends to cross with local birds.

The fifth meeting of the Workers’ Education Association was held on Friday, 45 members being present. Miss M A. French presiding. John Drinkwater’s “Oliver Cromwell’' was read. 11 members taking part.
