LONGER WORKING WEEK.—The Pull Court of the Arbitration Court unanimously granted an application by an New South Wales Railway Commissioners for a variation of the award to provide for a 48-hou:rs week instead of a week of 44 hdlli*s. ANALYSING THE TREATY.—The Government has reserved a day next Week for a debate in the House of Commons on a motion by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Baldwin, . proposing that a select committee of 11 members should be appointed to examine and report on the proposals contained in the London Naval Treaty. CHANNEL TUNNEL OPPOSED. The Committee: of Imperial Defence has again decided against the proposed English Channel Tunnel. The Air Force, particularly, opposes it. on tha ground that it would mean additional strategic points to be guarded m time of war. The Cabinet has the deciding voice, but the Lobby correspondent of the ‘ Daily Herald - ' say's he not be surprised if the scheme is rejected.
