CANADA SEEKS OUTLET FOR HER LUMBER TRADE
Reed. 9.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Friday. A separate subsidised cargo steamship service to China from Vancouver is likely to be established, according to an announcement by Mr. James Malcolm, Trade Minister. Regarding the estimates for the Australian-British Columbia service, the Minister suggested that China be added, and said the service since its inauguration had practically doubled the shipment of lumber to Australia. Canada was unable, however, to market lumber in Australia during the past four months, and would apparently have to go to other ports of call.
