LOAN FOR UNEMPLOYED
PROPOSAL DEFEATED IN DUNEDIN FEW RATEPAYERS VOTE Press Association DUNEDIN, Friday. The proposal of the Dunedin City Council to raise a loan of £ 20,000 for the purpose of providing work for the relief of unemployed was defeated at a poll of ratepayers today. Little interest was shown in the poll, as out of 21,000 ratepayers ent-itled to vote, only 2,807 votes were recorded. The voting was:—For the proposal, 947; against, 3,816.
