CANBERRA’S “WHITE ELEPHANT.”— The Prime Minister’s lodge at Canberra, which was built at a cost o f £28,000, during Mr. Stanley Bruce’s regime, is reputed to be “going cheap.” The lodge costs the Commonwealth £26 weekly, although occupied only by a caretaker. The present Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, prefers to live at an hotel.
