Announcement is made that Jack Benny has been released from his M-G-M contract to play tne title role in the picture, which will be an all-talking production. “Come Out of the Kitchen.” ha* been retained as the title of a new musical comedy to star Nancy Carroll, based on the stage comedy. Dikewise, “Sarah and Son” is to be kept for the Paramount production of Timothy Shea’s novel. Ruth Chatterton and Frederic March will be the stars. Based on Bayard Vellier’s stage play, “The Chatterbox,” “Smooth as Satin” will soon be produced as a talking picture by R-K-O. Adaptation, continuity and dialogue are being written for “Smooth as Satin” by Wallace Smith, who also wrote “Love Comes Along” for Bebe Daniels. In his fourth appearance on the talking screen for Radio Pictures, Joseph Cawthorn will be seen in ‘•Dixiana.” Bebe Daniels heads the large cast of the picture, which will be directed by Luther Reed, of “Rio Rita” fame. Cawthorn played in “Street Girl,” “Jazz Heaven” and “Dance Hall.” When she first went into motion pictures, Louise Fazenda had no idea that she was a comedienne, but she soon was made one. One day she tripped before the camera in such a ludicrous way that the director left the scene in the picture, and the name of Louise Fazenda came to mean a chuckle and giggle for the motion picture world.
