BELMONT CHURCH SHOW

RESULTS OF EXHIBITION

To raise funds for the church, a winter show was held in the Belmont Presbyterian Church hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs. J. W. Williamson, Mayoress of Takapuna, performed the opening ceremony. The show was continued during the evening, when fancy dress competitions and other novelties were introduced. Awards are as follow:

Home cooking: Plain sponge, Ansell Urquhart, 1; shortbread, Mrs. Ballantyne 1, Donald Lochare 2; covered tart, Mi's. Atkins 1; plate of pikelets. Miss Spooner. 1: sausage rolls, Mrs. Schulz 1; nut loaf, Miss McGregor 1; home-made plain bread, Mrs. Phillips 1 and 2; best dozen scones, Mrs. Schulz 1, Mrs. Ballantvne 2. Preserves and pickles: Jar of jelly, Miss Spooner 1; jar of chutney. Miss Barton 1, Mrs. Ballantyne 2; best box of toffee, Mrs. Paul 1, Miss McGregor 2. Best bunch of cut flowers, Mrs. R. Kessell 1; assorted vegetables. Mrs. Bramley 1; hanging basket, Mrs. Phillips 1. Sewing and handcraft: Best knitted garment, Mrs. Kessell 1, Mrs. Stewart 2; best hand-worked silk garment. Mrs. Stewart 1, Miss M. Spooner 2; best bandworked linen article, Mrs. Stokes 1, Miss C. Spooner 2, Miss Wheatly highly commended: best d’oyley, Miss Gwen Me Gelland 1, Mrs. Hepburn 2; best article with material costing under one shilling. Mis.
