YV7HILE it is admitted that El Direct is a greatly improved horse this season and particularly well adapted in every sense for saddle racing, it is useless for his admirers to close their eyes to the fact that in Teremoa the El Carbine gelding is meeting one that can claim to be almost his equal. On actual figures, it points to Teremoa beating El Direct at a difference of 36 yards, but supporters of the latter can take heart from the fact that their favourite has a finishing punch which is apt to surprise the very best just on the call of time.
