INQUIRY URGED
PROTECTION OF NATIVE WILD LIFE IMPROVEMENT WANTED An official inquiry with a view to j better protection of native flora, fauna and scenery in New Zealand, is ! desired by the Auckland Institute and I Museum, which last evening passed a < resolution on these lines. The motion, which was proposed o by the president, Mr. IT. E. Vaile. and i carried, was: j “That in the opinion of this insti--1 tute insufficient attention is given to i the preservation of native flora, fauna j and scenery, and that the Government j be urged to set up a committee of five i private citizens specially interested in ’ tho subject to make recommendations with a view to improving the present | unsatisfactory state of affairs.” These views were supported by Pro- ! fessor A.
