DUNEDIN’S WATER PROBLEM

DOMESTIC SUPPLY FAILING From Our Own Correspondent DUNEDIN, Today. ' The improvement which has taken 1 place during the last few days in the supply of water for power production • at Waipori is so satisfactory that the ! contemplated shutting down of all but i essential industrial factories on Sat- ! urday morning will not now be carried i out. Anxiety concerning the power supply, however, has been replaced by anxiety concerning the city’s domestic water supply, and appeals are being made for economy in consumption. The stored supply has fallen to 70,500,000 gallons, and as the weather is apparently set fair the position may shortly become really serious. A downpour over the whole watershed is urgently required.
