FRANKLIN COUNTY' COUNCIL
i The Franklin County Council met yesterday, Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P., presiding. Advice was received from the Auckland Hospital Board that the levy f.<r the current year amounted to £7.302 11s Id. It was agreed to support the Pukekohe Technical High School I Managers in its endeavour to establish an agricultural college at Pukekohe.
It was reported that the Taupiri Dairy Company had agreed to pay onehalf of the cost of metalling the approach road to its factory to be erected at Tuakau. In a report the engineer stated that 336 miles 50 chains of road was now metalled in the county. The following rates were agreed on: Awhitu Riding. 1 1-Sd; Drury, 1 5-Sd: Hunua, 13d; Karaka, Id: Mauku, 1 3-Sd; Mercer, lid: Pukekohe East, 1 l-8d; Pukekohe West. Ud: Waipipi. lid: Waiuku, lid: hospital. 3-I'M. T 1 e rates are the same as those for last year, with the exception of Drury Riding, which shows a reduction of 1-Sd. The chairman was appointed to attend the conference* of counties, and the clerk to attend the biennial conference of county clerks.
