Law and Miss Law, who have been visiting Auckland, have returned to Wanganui. Mrs. J. Varney, of Hollywood, California, is on a visit to Auckland and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. McKenzie, of Hamilton, is the guest of her parents, Captain and Mrs. J. Mitchell, Victoria Avenue, Remuera. Miss Wilma Plummer, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. M. Hammond, Hamilton, returns to Auckland today Miss C. Davidson, of Rotorua, is on a brief visit to Auckland and is the guest of Mrs. R. Palmer, Epsom Avenue. Mrs. Geo. Cairn, of Pongaroa, accompanied by her daughters, is visiting Auckland and is the guest of her mother. ♦ * * Mrs. W. H. Taylor, of Takapuna, is on a visit to Australia and is now in Adelaide. She will return in, June to Auckland. Mrs. C. M. Littlejohn, of William Street, Takapuna, who has been spending a few weeks with her mother. Lady Fowlds, of Mount .Eden, has returned to her home. Miss Carnaehan has been elected the Xorth Island Women Teachers’ representative on the Council of Education. The voting was as follows: Miss Carnaehan, 472 votes; Miss McGill, 259: Miss Park, 210.
Enjoyable Dance UNITED TENNIS CLUB ORGANISES SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Amateur Operatic Society's Hall, Grafton Road, was delightfully decorated with pale blue and lemon streamers and palms when the United Tennis Club held a most enjoyable dance last evening. dance music was u played by the Click Clack Internationals under the leadership of Mr. Norman Ganley. During - the evening an exhibition dance, given by Miss Bettina Edwards and her partner, was much appreciated. Among those present were: Mrs. Alan Hart, who wore applegreen taffeta trimmed with diamente; Miss Aimee Clapham, powder blue taffeta and silver lace; Miss Myra Irvine, lemon net trimmed with pink motifs; Miss Beryl Heap, Chinese red ring velvet and diamente; Miss F. Irvine, ceilblue and pink floral taffeta; Miss Edna Walrond, turquoise blue taffeta, relieved with lemon; Miss Gladys McLeay, pastel green georgette. Miss IX Hookes, wearing lilac taffeta and georgette; Miss Connie Davidson (.Rotorua), coral-pink taffeta; Miss MeMasters, deep wine satin and frilled georgette; Miss Olga McDuff, white georgette; Miss Edna Ballantyne, scarlet lace frock; Mrs. N. Dobson, marigold embossed chenille georgette; Miss Anita Sutherland, black tulle, with autumnshaded satin flowers round the hem: Miss Betty Tyler-Davis, powder-blue floral taffeta; Mrs. D. Bone, shell-pink georgette and ecru lace; Mrs. Miller, opalescent sequined frock with gold side panels; Miss Rita Henley, frock of black satin and tulle; Miss Phyllis Simon, black floral taffeta with yoke and hem of cameo pink chiffon.
