REGIONAL PLANNING

PALMERSTON NORTH SCHEME Press Association PALMERSTON N., Today. A conference of local bodies is being held today to consider the boundaries of a regional planning area having Palmerston North as its focal point. A large number of delegates met the committee set up by the Town Planning Board to tour the Dominion to hear evidence and to determine the constitution of regional planning areas. Addressing the conference Mr. J. W. Mawson, Director of Town Planning, said that regional schemes were not going to involve heavy expenditure. The surveys only provided for the cost of preparation and definitely limited the small levy on contributing local bodies.
