LUSTY VOICES
COMMUNITY SINGERS MEET AGAIN TODAY’S PROGRAMME Singing lustily, if not always in tune, 400 people met at the Town Hall this afternoon for the second community sing of the season. The singing- began with the National Anthem, and by the time “Gwin to Run All Night” had given place to “The Old Rustic Bridge” and “Wait Till the Clouds Roll By,” the crowd had abandoned its first shyness. The Town Hall rang with the combined efforts of baritones, sopranos, altos, tenors, base-baritones and two noticeable basso-prof undos. “My Bonny Lives Over the Ocean’* saw the singers at their best, while “Old Black Joe” and “John Brown’s Body” were popular items. Humour from Mr. Owen Pritchard relieved the programme, and Ingall’s Hawaiian Orchestra also took part. Mr. Len Barnes was song-leader and Mrs. Barrington Snow played the piano. A collection was taken up and the proceeds will be given to charity.
