MR. COATES ON TOUR
ADDRESSES IN ELECTORATE The Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, who is making a tour of the southern portion of the electorate, delivered addresses at Woodhill and Waimauku yesterday. Today he is visiting Port Albert, and tomorrow he will return to Dargaville. Mr. Coates diseusesd land settlement, and urged the brea.king-in of virgin country, and said the Reform Party had a scheme to give effect to this policy. He declared the best way to overcome New Zealand’s difficulties was to put more people on the land. Mr. Coates also criticised the Government’s expenditure on railway construction. Mr. Coates expressed sympathy with Sir Joseph Ward in his illness, and extended best wishes to the Hon. G. W. Forbes in forming a new Ministry.
