KING NOT WELL
DAMP WEATHER CAUSES RHEUMATISM NOT PRESENT AT COURT United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. noon. LONDON, Tuesday. King George for some days has been suffering from rheumatism in the right hip, and will not be present at the Courts to be held this evening and tomorrow. His Majesty hopes to fulfil his engagements later in the week. In Palace circles it is understood that the King’s trouble is largely due to the recent damp weather. * It is entirely unconnected with his recent illness. The indisposition of his Majesty is not of a serious nature, but the ceremonial of the Court involves considerable physical strain, which would in the circumstances have been painful and trying to the King. Consequently the Queen, escorted by the Prince of Wales, is holding the Courts tonight and tomorrow. The King’s engagements late in the week include the opening of the Royal tourney ou Thursday and the reception of delegates to the Congress of Imperial Chambers of Commerce on Friday. The attack is not interfering with his Majesty’s routine work at the Palace, and he received visitors today as usual.
It is semi-officially stated the King's ailment is progressing, and his Majesty is able to spend a considerable time in the warm sunshine in the Palace grounds.
