Popularity Campaign

First Count of Votes Published Today OVER 500 START IN GREAT RACE TODAY on page 8 appears the first tally of VOTES in THE SUN’S Great Popularity Competition. This is the thing which hundreds of people in the Auckland Province have been patiently watching for. Everyone wants to know who is making a start in this great race to decide the most popular men and women. The list published today includes only a proportion of the possible entrants. The campaign is wide open for nominations and every day new people will be entering.

Many people have entered themselves and many have been entered by friends. Nominations continue to pour into the Campaign Department. Every day sees new active contestants in the field, searching for votes. The race will be wide open from start to finish—no candidate having any advantage over another candidate, and newcomers have the same opportunity of taking the lead as those whose names are already announced. A number of incoming inquiries received indicate that a misunderstanding seems to exist among some people that nominations in The Sun's Competition will soon cease. This is incori'ect—new candidates may enter the race a.t any time it is open for nominations, and newcomers will have the same opportunity as anyone else. The race is only starting now, and the Campaign will remain open for nominations until two weeks before the close. In order to make the votes s3 r stem perfectly clear, the details of this important feature are explained again VOTE SYSTEM First of all a Contestant entering

the race receives 5,000 votes on the nomination coupon. Only one of those coupons will be credited to any single Contestant. The name is then placed on the list and the Contestant is started. The Contestant should then call at the office of the Campaign Department, The Sun Building, or write to the Campaign Manager, and secure a receipt book, which is given free. This receipt book may be used to secure subscriptions from the Contestant’s friends. For each one year’s subscription to The Sun a total of 15,000 votes is allotted. This is lor all subscriptions secured, whether it be the first subscription or the last. In addition, each candidate will receive 50,000 for his or her first yearly subscription. This 50,000 coupon is given only once to each Contestant. Contestants then proceed to secure as many subscriptions as possible from their friends. Now comes the BONUS OFFER. In this bonus offered, a total of 500,000 rotes is allotted to Contestants for each total of £lO in subscriptions he turns in before JUNE 21; that is to say, all subscriptions recorded, re-

gardless of the amount. When the records of the Campaign Department show that a Candidate has reached a total of £lO a 500,000 Bonus Ballot will be issued automatically. Thi3 may be repeated as many times as the Contestant may secure totals of £lO before June 21. It is not necessary for money to be the exact amount, subscriptions may be for any term and handed in at any time. This is the greatest special offer of the Campaign, and every effort should be made to secure as many subscriptions as possible, as they mean more now than they ever will again. Thus it will be seen that any time is a good time to enter this great Contest. A Candidate in a single day may secure more subscriptions—hence more votes, than any other Contestant. We would request every Contestant, and every person desiring to be a Contestant, to call at the Campaign Office and secure receipt books. These will Be given free, and every assistance will be accorded to the Contestants by members of the Campaign Department. There are so many prizes in the list that everyone has a chance of winning something. One Contestant can win one prize only, and every Contestant who turns in at least £lO in subscription money, will be positively assured of winning a prize. Never be discouraged by what your competitor is doing, your competitor ran win a prize, and so also can you win a prize. It is only necessary for you to do more that your competitor to get a better prize than your competitor receives. COME TO THE OFFICE TODAY AND GET STARTED.
