GARMENTS FOR SEAMEN’S DEPENDANTS

The Auckland Branch of the Navy League is to be congratulated on its decision to support, in practical fashion, New Zealand industries. All the material which will be bought for the making of garments for the dependants of seamen in England, funds for which were raised at a successful trump whist drive yesterday afternoon, will be New Zealand manufactured. The function was organised by the women’s committee and was held in the league’s rooms in Custom Street West. Mrs. Gallagher, the president, welcomed those present and explained the object of the afternoon. There was a large number of players, 31 tables being occupied. The members of the committee present were:—Mrs. Gallagher, president, who wore a gown of black satin, relieved with a shoulder spray of violets: Mrs. It. Wright, dark beige costume, with" brown furs and hat to match; Mrs. Duncan, black and rose georgette under a black coat, with bat to tone; Mrs. Mitchelson, black and White ensemble; Mrs. Glasgow, frock of navy blue; Mrs. Rainger, black crepe de chine,.relieved with royal blue; Mrs. Shearer, black frock relieved with rose; Miss Webber, dark wine frock, with fur coat and hat to tone; Miss Herrold, tobac brown rep frock, with brown hat; Miss Page, fawn and patterned crepe de chine and black hat; Miss Morton, navy blue frock, relieved with cream. Among those present were:—Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. letter-son, Mrs. I.evien, Mrs D’Arcy, Mrs. G. li. Jones, Mrs. Oswald, Mrs. Buchanan, Airs, Seymour, Airs. Hooper, Mrs. Alorley, Mrs. Wetherelt," Mrs. Morgan, Airs. Nutter, Mrs. Goldie’, Airs. Self, Airs. Hilling-ton, Airs. Devore, Aliss Devore, Airs. F. Newell, Airs.
