Th© annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was well attended. Mr. F. N. Christian presided. In submitting his report, Mr. Christian referred to the many activities of tho charrAber and the success attained.
The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. C. H. Clinkard, M.P.; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. H. Reed and W. Paterson; secretary and treasurer, Hr. B. C. Robbins; committee, Messrs. J. G. Green, R. Wallace, R. Ma*m, W. J. Sinclair, F. N. Christian, W* T. Teasey, E. Entwistle. and J. Dainefp.
lt was announced that Miss Melville, of Auckland, proposed to lecture hero on the question of Dominion-made goods, and it was decided to give her every assistance possible. It was also decided to interview the business people and get fchem to have a New Zealand goods’ w*3ek display.-
Messrs. Christian and Mann were appointed delegates to the Bay of Plenty Development League’s meeting of June 18. The Ifeague is to be asked to urge the Gov<3rnment to have amounts placed on the '.Estimates for the Paeroa-Pokeno Trail way and the extension of the Easjt Coast railways, and that the constriction of both be undertaken at once.
