TOWN HALL TOMORROW Another big community sing will be enjoyed at the Town Hall tomorrow between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m. Mr. Den Barnes, station director of IYA, will be the song leader and Mrs. Barrington Snow the pianist. Ingali’s Hawaiian Orchestra will play, and Mr. Owen Pritchard will give humorous items. A gramophone recital will be given by Messrs. Howies, Did., between 12 and 12.30.

TWO TALKIES AT TIVOLI “The Return of Sherlock Holmes” continues to thrill audiences at the Tivoli Theatre. This is based on the latest of the well-known detective stories by Conan Doyle, with Clive Brook giving a wonderful interpretation in the role of the famous Holmes. All the other roles, such as Dr. Watson and Professor Moriarty, are equally well portrayed. The second attraction is “Cameo Kirby,” a tuneful romance of old New Orleans, starring Harold Murray and Norma Terris, the stars of “Married in Hollywood.”

WINNIE LIGHTNER IN NEW FILM Winnie Lightner, the clever comedienne, who scored such an instantaneous success in “Gold Diggers of Broadway,” has been signed by Warner Bros, for a five years’ contract. Her nest picture to be shown in Xetv Zealand will be “Hold Everything,” a musical comedy which will be presented entirely in teehnicolour.
