SOCCER AT HUNTLY
Saturday’s games resulted: Pukemiro 4, v. Thistle, 3; Wanderers, 3, v. Huntly, 2; Glen Massey, 7, v. Rotowaro, 2. The hardest fight was between Huntly and Wanderers, the latter just getting in tho winning unit in the last five minutes of play. The outstanding player was Wanderers’ goali e(Smith), who formerly played for Glen Massey. It was a finished performance on his part. He stopped some wonderful shots, and his defence was the shining gem of the day’s play. George Deakon was away, and their inside left, Webster, was a weak spot. Schonau was very sound. Wanderers’ outside right is a solid plaj-er too. Archie Deacon was good, and so was Arthur Hall, with Wilf Biddle, but Percy Davies was weak in the outside right position. Wanderers were two up at halftime. Huntly retaliated by putting two on the slate in as many minutes after half-time, and Wanderers pulled the game out of the fire at the deathknock.
