RIFLED MONEY-BOXES

DOMESTIC ADMITTED TO PROBATION “WAYWARD AND WILFUL” Said by the probation officer. Major Annie Gordon, to be wayward and wilful. a domestic servant aged 18. was admitted to probation for two years at the Police Court this morning. She had rifled the money-boxes of Ivor employer’s three children. The girl admitted the theft of 15s and Sub-Inspector Shanahan said it was hard to say hew much money had been taken. The girl’s mistress had noticed the three money-boxes becoming lighter and it was a long time since they had been opened. Accused’s home was in the Thames district and she had been out at work for two or three years. According to Major Gordon, the girl had caused her parents some trouble and the probation officer’s attention bad already been drawn to her. She had a good position and was treated as one of the family, being taken out in the motor-car and generally given a good time. Accused was admitted to probation. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remarking that further bad behaviour would mean a term in the Borstal. Tier name, at the request of Major Gordon, was suppressed.
