QUESTION OF EXPENSES HARD WORK AT OTAHUHU If a man is not out of pocket by attending the Magistrate’s Court to give evidence as a witness, he must do his duty to his country, and not rob it. This remark was made in the Otahuhu Magistrate’s Court this morning by Mr. F. K. Levien, S.M., during a discussion on the expenses of witnesses. Sergeant Rowell said in court this morning that it was hard work at present to get any witnesses to attend court to give evidence, and if tire full amount of 10s was not paid, whether witnesses were there for a full dav or for half a day, it would be impossible to get anyone to come along. The magistrate that witnesses must not be out oC pocket through attending court to give evidence.
